Interview: Brandon T. Jackson on Trading Comedy for Navigating Trauma in ‘I’m Beginning to See the Light’

In Konstantin Khudyakov’s I’m Beginning to See the Light, Ezra (Jack Huston) suffers the unimaginable loss of his family in a car accident and struggles to see a path forward. He leaves behind his passion – playing trumpet – and wanders into a lighthouse where he’s mistaken for its new keeper. This new role affords him the opportunity to meet several new people, including the similarly destitute Sam (Brandon T. Jackson), who help shape a new perspective on the future.

Awards Buzz spoke with Jackson about working in a more dramatic space and how that feels different from his typical genre of comedy. Watch the video above to hear about the experience of working opposite Huston and what it’s like leading the BET+ series The Family Business: New Orleans.

I’m Beginning to See the Light will premiere on Friday, May 2nd and will be available on Apple TV, Prime Video, Fandango At Home, Google Play, YouTube and Blu-Ray.
