In Anu Valia’s We Strangers, Rayelle (Kirby) works as a house cleaner but gets the idea to earn some extra cash when her newest client, Jean (Maria Dizzia), believes that she’s a medium. Keeping up the illusion with both Jean and her neighbor Tracy (Sarah Goldberg) proves difficult but Rayelle is up for the challenge, even if she also has to contend with Tracy’s daughter Sunny (Mischa Reddy), but who doesn’t fully buy into what she’s selling.
Awards Buzz spoke with Valia about the inspiration for this story and the chance to work and create with Kirby. Watch the video above to hear about her transition from television to film and how she feels like the two mediums are quite different.
