Ever since Dexter first premiered on television in October 2006, audiences have remained madly in love with its title character, Dexter Morgan, a blood pattern analyst who has a secret yearning to kill and satisfies that craving, time and time again, by murdering bad guys. What might remain most fascinating around this dark yet often comedic story is the morally gray area of killing those that feel valid in doing so and somewhat of a “karma” move, which has allowed Dexter audiences to support and sometimes sympathize with his homicidal actions.
Starring Michael C. Hall, the Dexter Showtime with Paramount Plus series has effectively evolved over the past couple of decades, with intriguing new characters, longtime beloved faces and an ever-expanding television universe filled with fascinating psychopaths. With 24 Emmy nominations and 4 wins so far, Dexter has recently welcomed the likes of Uma Thurman, Eric Stonestreet, Krysten Ritter, David Dastmalchian and more. In this new second season of Dexter: Resurrection, we viewers get to see humorously relatable ways of aging that our main character is now experiencing within his 50s, as well as his somewhat softer side, while striving to connect better with his grown son, but also continuing to take advice from the ghost of his own father.
We sat down with several of the Dexter: Resurrection second two cast, including actors Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Desmond Harrington, Bokeem Woodbine, Nona Parker Johnson, Jack Alcott, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa and James Remar, as they shared why they believe this series has had such longevity over its 20-year run and still has even more stories worth telling. They also answer a new spin on my signature and original interview question, revealing what each of them would like to say to Dexter Morgan, if only they could speak to him.
