Gotham Award Nominations Announced

Nominations for the 34^th edition of the Gotham Film & Media Institute’s annual prizes were announced today, marking the official start of awards season. The honorees are broken down into nine categories: Breakthrough Performer, Outstanding Supporting Performance, Outstanding Lead Performance, Breakthrough Director, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Documentary Feature, Best International Feature, and Best Feature.

Leading the nominations is Anora, with four bids, including Best Feature, marking NEON’s only film nominated in any category. It was a great day for A24, which picked up Best Feature nominations for Babygirl and A Different Man as well as mentions for I Saw the TV Glow, The Brutalist, Sing Sing, Love Lies Bleeding, and Janet Planet. Rounding out the Best Feature lineup are Challengers and Nickel Boys, both from Amazon MGM Studios.

The Gothams do not separate their acting categories by gender. The inclusion of Natasha Lyonne in the supporting category for His Three Daughters is an interesting move given Netflix’s decision to campaign Lyonne as a lead and her costars Elizabeth Olsen and Carrie Coon in the supporting race.

The 2024 Gothams will be held live and in person at 7pm on Monday, December 2^nd at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
