Having made some early waves with audiences through his acting work on such projects as the Riverdale teen drama series and working alongside Julianne Moore & Natalie Portman in the May December Netflix film, Charles Melton is quickly building an impressive and versatile career as a new leading man in Hollywood.
In his latest television project from Lee Sung Jin, Beef, Melton plays Austin Davis, a former college football star striving to find his next career move and life mission – with little success. Co-starring Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan and Cailee Spaeny, Beef examines the tension and varied ideologies towards love, status and money between generations.
With 16 Emmy nominations for this second season of the Netflix limited series, we sat down with Melton to discuss his reaction to the show’s success, his experiences filming the eight episodes and whether he would ultimately be friends with his Beef character.
