In the Netflix limited series The Beast in Me, Aggie (Claire Danes) is still struggling to return to some sense of normalcy after the death of her young son and having trouble finding motivation to write her latest book. When Nile (Matthew Rhys), a powerful figure in real estate who many believe killed his first wife, moves in next door, Aggie knows this is a story she has to investigate.
Awards Buzz had the chance to speak with Brittany Snow, who plays Nina, Nile’s new wife who works in the art world. Snow has had a very busy year, also starring in another Netflix hit, The Hunting Wives, and recently appearing in Hulu’s limited series Murdaugh: Death in the Family.
She shared the unexpected proximity of these shows being released:
“It’s very strange. It didn’t happen like this. I filmed them in order, but not at the same time, and so of course they all come out at the same time so it seems like I’ve just been the most busy person ever. But it is funny that they’re also all having to do with murder. That was not by choice. Although I do love true crime, it just so happens that they’re all along the same theme.”
Beware spoilers for the end of the series.
“As you know, my part really gets good after you’ve seen it. What was surprising, and also I was so grateful for, was that I didn’t have any idea going into it, and neither did the creators or showrunners or writers. They wrote the show as we went along, which was such a huge honor, because I think they knew that I could handle that type of twist. I guess it was their way of showing me that they had faith in me, that I could carry that out. When I went into the show, I just thought I was the wife of Nile and I was very grateful to be a part of it because of the people who were involved.”
The Beast in Me is streaming on Netflix.
