In Cindy Lee’s Oscar-nominated short film The Last Ranger, a young girl sees the wonders of the rhinos in South Africa and witnesses the devastating effect that poachers can have not only on the endangered animal population but also on the people of her community.
Awards Buzz spoke with Lee, the first female South African to be nominated for an Oscar, about the arduous process of filming and working with real rhinos. Watch the video above to hear about the significance of this film’s subject and what bringing international attention to it has meant to her.
