In Damian Kocur’s Under the Volcano, a family of four is vacationing in Tenerife, Spain when they receive news that their homeland of Ukraine is under attack. Unable to find a flight home, they remain stranded in a place that feels far too luxurious and comfortable as simmering tensions threaten to bubble over as they increasingly lose control over their own fates.
