From documenting London’s early-2000s indie music scene to directing GASLIT, the first-ever feature-length documentary produced by Greenpeace U.S.A., Katie Camosy has found a powerful new chapter in her filmmaking journey.
The director sits down with Awards Buzz’s Sari Cohen to talk about the making of GASLIT, her nearly decade-long collaboration with Jane Fonda, and how Fonda, Connie Britton, and Maggie Rogers came together to support a film confronting the environmental and human toll of the fossil fuel industry in Texas and Louisiana.
Camosy also opens up about what surprised her during production, why this story is so urgent now, and what audiences can do to become part of the solution. At the heart of GASLIT is a question that affects us all: What happens when the places we call home are sacrificed for profit—and what can we do about it?
Audiences have the opportunity to join the conversation during the GASLIT Eventive virtual live premiere, which will be on Tuesday, August 11 at 2:25 PM PT. During the livestream, director Katie Camosy and film subject Jo Banner will be chatting live with viewers via text. Immediately following the screening, there will be a special moderated Q&A with Jane Fonda, Katie Camosy, and Jo Banner.
