Hacks, now back for its third season on Max, is a show about the unhealthy working dynamic between veteran comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). Every once in a while, Ava’s mother Nina (Jane Adams) pops up to cause just a bit more chaos for her daughter, hopelessly untethered to reality in a way that truly irks Ava and manages to delight Deborah.
