In director Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice, a young Donald Trump (Sebastian Stan) ventures into the world of business, stepping out from the shadow of his father (Martin Donovan) and under the sway of lawyer Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong). As he spends more time with Cohn, Trump transforms into a ruthless businessman with little empathy for anyone around him.
Awards Buzz spoke with Strong about his approach to this role and what he wanted to find in the character to make him human. Watch the video above to hear how he feels the film doesn’t delve into politics and how he looks at the size and scope of the parts he plays.
