In Jonathan Gruber’s Centered: Joe Lieberman, he explores the legacy of Senator Joe Lieberman, who became the first Jewish candidate for Vice President when he ran in 2000 as Al Gore’s running mate. Lieberman, who died last year at the age of eighty-two, was someone unafraid to stand by his positions, even if they weren’t in step with the Democratic party and cost him some political capital.
Awards Buzz spoke with Gruber about his initial impression of Lieberman and the chance to get to know him before his unexpected passing.
