Interview: Michael Shannon on His Love of Music and Working a Formidable Ensemble in ‘The End’
December 4, 2024Joshua Oppenheimer’s first two films, The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence, both about mass killings in Indonesia in the 1960s, earned Oscar nominations for Best Documentary Feature. His first narrative film is an end-of-the-world musical, something that seems like it might inherently be quite different, but which Oppenheimer insists is quite in line thematically with his past work.

The End opens in theaters on Friday, December 6th.
