Kristin Scott Thomas makes her directorial debut with My Mother’s Wedding, in which she stars as a woman marrying her third husband after losing her first two husbands in exactly the same manner. Her adult daughters Katherine (Scarlett Johansson), Victoria (Sienna Miller), and Georgina (Emily Beecham) all arrive for the wedding with their own baggage about their mother and the new man in her life.
Awards Buzz spoke with Thomas about adapting pieces of her own history into a film that’s not meant to be an autobiography. Watch the video above to hear about the process of finding the actresses who play her daughters and building an onscreen family.
My Mother’s Wedding opens in theaters on Friday, August 8th.
