Interview: Nnamdi Asomugha on the Advantages of Moral Ambiguity and Making His Directorial Debut with ‘The Knife’

In Nnamdi Asomugha’s The Knife, Chris (Asomugha) finds a woman in his kitchen in the middle of the night. He calls the police and waits anxiously with his wife Alex (Aja Naomi King) and their daughters Ryley (Aiden Price) and Kendra (Amari Price). Detective Carlsen (Melissa Leo) arrives on the scene, intent on finding out the truth and determining what crimes have actually been committed.

Awards Buzz spoke with Asomugha about how he came to the project and ended up being the natural if unexpected choice to direct it. Watch the video above to hear how he embraces the fact that audiences don’t feel resolved about the film’s ending and want to keep discussing it.

The Knife opens in theaters on Friday, August 15th.
