Interview: “Robin Hood” Casts and Creatives on the Modern-Day Reimagining of the Classic, Legendary Tale

“Robin Hood” will debut on MGM+ on Sunday, November 2 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Latasha M. Ford with Awards Buzz had an opportunity to catch-up with cast and behind-the-scene creatives of the reimagined version of “Robin Hood”. Below are a series of engaging and authentic conversations with the talented individuals who brought this series to life. The lively interviews cover various topics, including an exploration of the Sheriff of Nottingham’s character, highlighting his softer side and internal conflicts. We also introduce the MGM+ series “Robin Hood” with interviews featuring Sean Bean, Connie Nielsen, and many more, discussing their experiences and roles. Additionally, we have an in-depth conversation with Jack Patten, who plays Robin Hood, exploring his feelings and the impact of taking on this iconic role.

This new iteration of “Robin Hood” focuses on the origin story, relatability, humanization, and the love story aspect of the legendary tale. Full interviews below:

“I just thought it was a very interesting look at the society at the time. We know it’s a fictional to some extent, my character is fictional, and Robin Hood’s is. Eleanor, of course, was a real historical figure. But it brings the whole question of politics, Christianity and paganism. We had 10 hours in to represent that, a real luxury.”

“I was saying that the first time I read, I’d just had the audition for a couple of scenes, and she [Priscilla] just jumps off the page. You get so clear her inner spirit, the way that she navigates the world. You get these magical moments sometimes when you read a script, and you’re just like, that character clicks into your soul. Let’s just make that clear. She’s so fun to be inside of, she, was delicious to be for 6-7 months.”

“We wanted to create a very personal Robin Hood. You know, not just a swashbuckling sort of adventure, running around, shooting arrows everywhere. It’s like, what’s in his heart? What’s in his soul? What made him hurt? He carries this trauma with him as you know from a young man, and that sort of turns into anger and this desire for vengeance.”

About “Robin Hood”

From Lionsgate Television, Robin Hood brings a modern energy to the classic tale of the roguish outlaw hero who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, and the epic love story between him and a courageous and daring Marian. It is a smart, sweeping, romantic adventure that brings historical authenticity, psychological depth, and a heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian to the beloved story. Following the Norman invasion of England, Rob – a Saxon forester’s son – and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord – fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land.
