Interview: Jennifer Love Hewitt talks 9-1-1 and her dream of being in a High Potential cross-over episode

Jennifer Love Hewitt stars as Maddie Han on ABC’s the hit drama series 9-1-1. The series, which just finished its eighth season, has been beloved by audiences but has yet to secure a single Emmy nomination. That is a real shame given the shows star power, which alongside Hewitt, includes Peter Krause, Angela Bassett, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Oliver Stark, and dozens of the others. While the show blurs the lines of comedy and drama from time to time, it is the longest running Ryan Murphy production to date and is one that has received an ongoing amount of support from the fans.

Season eight of 9-1-1 was, in my opinion, one of the show’s strongest seasons. The crossover episodes with Doctor Odyssey were a lot of fun and then there was all of high stakes drama including the return of Maddie after being kidnapped and, of course, the shocking death of Captain Bobby Nash played by Peter Krause. This season had a lot to offer and deserving of some awards buzz.

In my interview with Jennifer Love Hewitt, we talk about a little bit of everything. We discussed what it was like for her to play Maddie without a voice, who her favorite scene partners are, and another ABC show that she is obsessed with and so desperately wants to see a crossover with.

“I am obsessed with the show High Potential and she (Kaitlin Olson) is always referencing she is in LA. And she is always referencing dispatch. She has got to come to the dispatch center or I have to go to hers or we can do both.” Hewitt continues, “I just want to be on that show. I think it would be really fun because her character is so fun and I think she and Maddie would be so much fun to watch together but its also so seamless because she is constantly referencing dispatch and yet you never see the dispatcher. That’s my goal for season nine.”
