Rebecca Hall on ‘The Beauty’ and Her Continuing Creative Evolution

For nearly two decades, Rebecca Hall has built one of the most versatile careers in modern film. Whether in prestige dramas, psychological thrillers, independent features, or blockbuster franchises, Hall has consistantly delivered impeccable, magnetic performances, earning acclaim for her work in projects such as The PrestigeChristineVicky Christina Barcelona, and The Town. Beyond acting, she has also established herself as a filmmaker with her directorial debut, Passing.

Hall has now entered the world of prestige television in FX’s The Beauty, a Ryan Murphy-backed thriller blending horror, satire, and social commentary. The project arrives during a particularly busy chapter of Hall’s career. Alongside The Beauty, she will soon be seen in Ira Sachs’ The Man I Love, opposite Rami Malek, and is making plans for her next directorial endeavor. 

In conversation with Awards Buzz’s Shadan Larki, Hall discusses Murphy’s pitch for The Beauty, Hollywood’s complicated relationship with aging, showcasing “cheeky British humor,” and what kinds of projects she’d like to tackle next.
