Interview: Camila Morrone Steps into the Lead with ‘Something Very Bad is Going to Happen’

Camila Morrone’s first series, Daisy Jones & the Six, put her on the map, and earned her a much-deserved Emmy nomination. But, it’s her latest miniseries, Netflix’s Something Very Bad is Going to Happen that proves Morrone’s early praise was no fluke. She stars as Rachel, in love and on her way to meet her partner (Adam DiMarco)’s family. As the title suggests, indeed, very bad things do happen on this twisty, anxiety-filled, meet-the-parents misadventure. Morrone sells the moody, atmospheric drama, once again hitting all the right notes. Morrone’s performance avoids horror cliches and relies instead on empathy, chemistry and charisma to craft a very good performance in a creepily good time of a TV show.

Morrone also turns in an excellent supporting turn in the long-awaited second season of The Night Manager. In an interview with Awards Buzz’s Shadan Larki, Morrone discusses her very good year on television, newfound confidence to take more big swings, and the enduring legacy—and memeification— of Daisy Jones.

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is streaming on Netflix.
