In Adam J. Graves’ Oscar-nominated short film Anuja, nine-year-old orphan Anuja (Sajda Pathan) works in a garment factory in India with her older sister Palak (Ananya Shanbhag) but is forced to consider what her future will look like when an incredible opportunity comes along that could change everything.
Awards Buzz spoke with Graves about researching child labor statistics and the motivation for him to make the film along with his wife Suchitra Mattai. Watch the video above to hear about the decision to cast within the community they were portraying and the joy of working with these impressive young talents.
