The Marvel Cinematic Universe television series Echo represents a new chapter for the popular comic book franchise, rated TV-MA and marketed as a Marvel Spotlight project. Alaqua Cox reprises her role from Hawkeye as Maya Lopez in the limited series that features extensive use of sign language and an emphasis on its lead character’s Choctaw roots.
Awards Buzz spoke with Freeland about her interest in the show and the opportunity to work with a Deaf actress. Watch the video above to hear how the experience surprised her and what she’d love to do next in the MCU.
