Interview: Eddie Redmayne on the Casual Ruthlessness of His Assassin in ‘The Day of the Jackal’

Peacock’s The Day of the Jackal is a new take on the Frederick Forsyth novel of the same name and Fred Zinnemann’s 1973 film. Starring Eddie Redmayne as a highly skilled assassin, the ten-episode series tracks his latest assignment gone awry and a British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch) hot in pursuit of this elusive contract killer.

Awards Buzz spoke with Redmayne about whether he could find anything redeemable in this truly despicable character. Watch the video above to hear all about the prosthetics process and the many disguises the Jackal wears throughout the series.

The first five episodes of The Day of the Jackal are now streaming on Peacock, with one new episode dropping weekly on Thursdays through the finale on December 12th.
