Interview: Eugenio Derbez and Jason Alexander on Reviving Spanish Dracula in ‘Y llegaron de noche’

When the classic movie Dracula starring Bela Lugosi was filmed in 1930 on the Universal Studios lot, a Spanish version was filmed at night using the same costumes and sets. That incredible story of early film history is the basis for the ViX comedy series Y llegaron de noche, which chronicles the chaotic process of this nighttime production process and its unruly star Carlos Villarías (Eugenio Derbez).

Awards Buzz spoke with Derbez and Jason Alexander, who plays Universal head Carl Laemmle, about immersing themselves in this incredible story. Watch the video above to hear Alexander rave about Derbez’s acting chops and the process of watching him bring Villarías to life.

New episodes of Y llegaron de noche premiere Fridays on ViX through the finale on October 25th.
