Interview: Jaeden Martell and Julian Dennison on Outdated Technology and Action Sequences in ‘Y2K’

In Kyle Mooney’s Y2K, it’s New Year’s Eve in 1999 and there’s a worry that the world is going to end. In this version of reality, there’s reason to fear since a virus takes over all the machines and send them on a killing rampage against every human. Best friends Eli (Jaeden Martell) and Danny (Julian Dennison) have more frivolous, high school-oriented things to worry about until they too have to fight to stay alive.

Awards Buzz spoke with Martell and Dennison about getting to know this particular moment in time given that they were born after the year 2000. Watch the video above to hear their reflections on the film’s violent action sequences and working with Mooney as a director and costar.

Y2K opens in theaters on Friday, December 6th.
