November 8, 2024AFI Fest Review: ‘On Becoming a Guinea Fowl’ is a Contemplative Critique of Culture
November 9, 2024Coming home isn’t always easy, and that couldn’t be truer for Louie (Scott Michael Foster), whose first trip back to his hometown in many years happens in the aftermath of his father’s death. He’s managed to alienate most people he used to know by using them as all-too-transparent inspirations for the books he’s written, but he does connect with two old friends, Travis (Kevin Bigley) and Lainey (Kate Cobb), as he struggles to make sense of what’s ahead for him and how much of what he’s perceiving is actually real.
Awards Buzz spoke with wife-and-husband team Cobb and Bigley about playing double duty as director and writer, respectively, and working alongside Foster in the cast. Watch the video above to hear about their approach to this film’s subject matter and the many tones it navigates over the course of its runtime.
Okie debuts on VOD on Friday, November 8th.
