December 12, 2024In Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, Shelley (Pamela Anderson) has been working in a Las Vegas show for decades and is dismayed to learn that it’s going to abruptly close. As she grapples with the end of something that has meant everything to her for years, she attempts to reconnect with Hannah (Billie Lourd), the daughter she long ago pushed away in favor of keeping her job.
Awards Buzz spoke with screenwriter Kate Gersten about writing this script as a play and waiting years for Anderson to be the perfect choice to anchor it. The Last Showgirl opens for a one-week theatrical engagement on Friday, December 13th before debuting in theaters nationwide on Friday, January 10th.
