Interview: Lili Taylor on Genre Bending and the Allure of ‘Outer Range’

Lili Taylor has been a dependable TV presence for the past several decades, beginning with her first Emmy nomination for The X-Files, guest-starring in the 1998 season five episode “Mind’s Eye.” She earned her next Emmy bid for her recurring role as Lisa Kimmel on Six Feet Under and appeared in three seasons of the ABC anthology series American Crime. Now, she’s starring opposite Josh Brolin in Prime Video’s Outer Range and as Mary Todd Lincoln in Apple TV+’s Manhunt.

Awards Buzz spoke with Taylor about what it feels like to be part of this show that doesn’t neatly fit into a particular genre. Watch the video above to hear how she looks back at her television past and what she’s been particularly excited to try.

Lili Taylor is eligible for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at this year’s Emmy Awards. The first two seasons of Outer Range are available to stream on Prime Video.
