Interview: Melissa Benoist on Journalism, Camaraderie, and the Thrill of ‘The Girls on the Bus’

Melissa Benoist first broke through when she joined the cast of Glee, and then scored herself a starring role as the title character in the CW series Supergirl. She’s also appeared in the limited series Waco and on Broadway as Carole King, and her latest part is playing an old-school journalist trying to blaze a new path in the Max series The Girls on the Bus.

Awards Buzz spoke with Benoist about how she gets her news and her own personal interest in politics. Watch the video above to hear how she reflects back on the roles she’s had and what she’s been able to invest of herself into them.

Melissa Benoist is eligible for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at this year’s Emmy Awards. Season one of The Girls on the Bus is available to stream on Max.
