In Loïc Espuche’s Oscar-nominated short film Yuck!, young kids always laugh and point when they see people kissing, and it’s easy to tell who wants to by the way their lips glow pink. But while Léo likes to laugh along with everyone else, he finds himself in a tough situation when his lips start to glow.
Awards Buzz spoke with Espuche about getting the idea for this short from seeing how children reacted to watching one of his previous films. Watch the video above to hear about his desire to achieve simplicity and to make sure there wasn’t anything unnecessary left in the final version of the film.
