In the Showtime limited series A Gentleman in Moscow, based on Amor Towles’ 2016 novel, a Russian count in the early twentieth century is permanently confined to a luxurious hotel in the aftermath of the Bolshevik resolution. Ewan McGregor embodies the title character with a flair for all things fancy, and McGregor’s real-life spouse, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, portrays Anna Urbanova, an actress who enchants the count over the many years they cross paths.
