In American Primeval, Sara (Betty Gilpin) forges West with her young son Devin (Preston Mota), intent on reaching Utah as bounty hunters follow closely behind, eager to collect the reward on her head. She finds a solemn but skilled guide in Isaac (Taylor Kitsch), who navigates the treacherous landscape which includes frequent violent and deadly clashes involving Mormons, Native Americans, and those who aren’t eager to have anyone who doesn’t look or worship like them anywhere near their territory.
Awards Buzz spoke with director and executive producer Peter Berg about his interest in this portion of American history and why he wanted to make a show about it.
