About “The Rookie”
“The Rookie” premiered in October 2018 and centers on the character of John Nolan, portrayed by Nathan Fillion. The series begins as John, in his 40s and newly divorced, decides to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a police officer by joining the Los Angeles Police Department. As the oldest rookie in the LAPD, John faces unique challenges and adversity related to his age while simultaneously navigating the complexities of a new career and a new life in California.The show is inspired by the true story of William “Bill” Norcross, an actual LAPD officer who not only continues to serve in the department but also holds an executive producer role on the series, lending authenticity to the storytelling.
“The Rookie” was recently honored with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Stunt Coordination For Drama Programming, highlighting the dynamic action sequences featured in the show. The ensemble cast also includes Richard T. Jones as Wade Grey, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Melissa O’Neill as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers, and Lisseth Chavez as Celina Juarez.
About Season 8:
Exciting news regarding “The Rookie!” The show has officially been renewed for an eighth season, which is great news for fans and promises more compelling storylines. We can expect Season 8 to premiere in midseason 2026 on ABC, likely around January, similar to previous seasons. Filming for the new season has already commenced, and I’m particularly excited to hear that production included a trip to Prague. This marks the first time “The Rookie” has filmed internationally, which should bring a fresh and intriguing element to the upcoming episodes. The season is slated to have 18 episodes, so there will be plenty of new content to look forward to.
