The Summer Book director Charlie McDowell joined star Glenn Close on Sunday October 27 at TCL Chinese Theatre for the film’s North American premiere.
The AFI Premiere of The Summer Book took place on the final day of this year’s AFI Fest and welcomed other attendees including Charlie’s parents, Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen, as well as Ted Danson, and film producers Alex Orlovsky and Duncan Montgomery.
Before the screening and conversation, Awards Buzz spoke with Charlie McDowell on the red carpet. Check out our interview below!
The director spoke about filming in a remote Gulf of Finland island setting, how he felt about adapting the 1972 novel by Tove Jansson, and what it was like working with Glenn Close.
