April 20, 2024The protagonist of the Apple TV+ series Manhunt is not President Abraham Lincoln (Hamish Linklater) nor his assassin, John Wilkes Booth (Anthony Boyle). Instead, it’s the man who tracked down his friend and political ally’s murderer, Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, portrayed by Tobias Menzies, an Emmy winner for his take on another famous person from history, Prince Philip, in seasons three and four of The Crown.
Awards Buzz spoke with Menzies about what he knew of this story and the takeaways he has regarding how the political sphere is different today. He also touched on other roles and a rare modern-day part in the film You Hurt My Feelings. Watch the video above to hear Menzies share his reverence for this story and the process of making this series.
Tobias Menzies is eligible for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at this year’s Emmy Awards. All seven episodes of Manhunt are now streaming on Apple TV+.
