In James Griffiths’ The Ballad of Wallis Island, disgruntled musician Herb McGwyer (Tom Basden) shows up on a small island expecting to perform to a large crowd, only to discover that he’s been hired to do a show for one man only, the eccentric Charles (Tim Key). Worse still, Herb finds out that Charles has also invited his old partner Nell (Carey Mulligan) for a reunion concert he definitely has no desire to play.
