Tom Nesher makes her feature directorial debut with Come Closer, a story about Eden (Lia Elalouf), who only learns about the existence of Maya (Darya Rosenn), her brother Nati’s (Ido Tako) girlfriend, after he is suddenly killed in an accident. Mourning the loss of someone so close to her, Eden initially approaches Maya with anger but soon comes to see the value in sharing their memories of someone they both loved.
Awards Buzz spoke with Nesher about how the death of her own brother motivated her to incorporate elements of her experiences into this fictional story. Watch the video above to hear about the challenges of making her first feature and the rewards of sharing it with the world.
Come Closer had its world premiere at the 2024 Tribeca Festival and will be released by Greenwich Entertainment in 2025.
