Interview: Yana Gorskaya on Being There from the Beginning and Bidding Farewell to ‘What We Do in the Shadows’

What We Do in the Shadows started back in 2014 as a small film from New Zealand from writer-director-stars Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, with Yana Gorskaya working as one of its editors. Over the course of the six seasons of the FX series that began in 2019, Gorskaya served as director for 22 episodes, including the unforgettable series finale, and editor for 33, in addition to her role as an executive producer for the show’s final season.

Awards Buzz spoke with Gorskaya about working on this vampire mockumentary concept from the very start and how it evolved over the course of more than a decade. Watch the video above to hear how she feels about the show ending, and whether it’s actually done for good.

All six seasons of What We Do in the Shadows are streaming on Hulu.
