We discussed Marshall’s incredible week ahead, from the upcoming announcement of the 83rd Annual Golden Globe nominees on Monday, December 8th to the immense honors she has thus far received from the Gotham Awards merely days ago, and is postured to receive on Tuesday, December 9th at the 8th Annual Critics Choice Association Celebration for Black Cinema & TV, and millions of fans worldwide.

Sky’s the limit for “Matlock” star Skye P. Marshall!

The Chicago-native turned Hollywood star continues to beam like a light and fans across the globe are absolutely loving to see her in the limelight. Marshall has recently signed with Verve for representation and has been tagged to announce the 83rd Annual Golden Globes nominees in the coming days. As if that wasn’t enough, Skye P. Marshall will be recognized and honored at the Critics Choice Celebration for Black Cinema & TV on Tuesday, December 9 – following her recent Critics Choice nominations received on this Friday, December 5 for her role as attorney Olympia Lawrence opposite Kathy Bates in “Matlock.”

Skye P. Marshall, wife of Edwin Hodge has also been recognized for her work on the series “Matlock” by the Gotham TV Awards and, did we mention, the 8th Annual Celebration of Black Cinema & TV — oh yes we certainly did.

The Critics Choice Association’s 8th Annual Celebration for Black Cinema & TV:

The Critics Choice Association’s celebration will spotlight creators redefining Black storytelling in Hollywood, hosted by Jay Pharoah in Los Angeles, California. Skye P. Marshall will receive the Best Supporting Actress Award – Series for CBS’s Matlock, which also earned her a special STARZ #TakeTheLead distinction for amplifying women-centered narratives. This year’s Critics Choice Celebration will also feature a live performance from Aiyana-Lee, who sings the closing number from Spike Lee’s “Highest 2 Lowest.”

I felt limitless! I just had to activate that mentality outside of the city. When I decided I was going to pursue acting, I was like, New York, Chicago, or LA. New York, Chicago, LA. I was like, Ah, LA is hotter, so I’ll just go there.”

83rd Annual Golden Globes Nominations:

As for the 2026 Golden Globes, Skye P. Marshall and Marlon Wayans will present the nominees for the 83rd Annual Golden Globes. All 28 categories will be unveiled on Dec. 8, 2025 starting at 8:15 a.m. ET/5:15 a.m. PT on CBSNews.com, with 11 categories revealed at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT on CBS Mornings. 

Viewers can also stream the announcement live on the CBS News YouTube and TikTok channels. Nikki Glaser returns as host of the Golden Globes ceremony, which will air Jan. 11, 2026 live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. The 28 award categories include one new one: Best Podcast. Each category will feature six nominees, with the exception of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which will include eight.

About “Matlock” Season 2:

Inspired by the original Andy Griffin series of the same name but not direct remake, Matlock stars Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty”, a brilliant septuagenarian who rejoins the workforce at a prestigious law firm. Using her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics, Matty wins cases while working alongside senior attorney Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) and key rainmaker with a thirst for justice, Olympia’s ex-husband, Julian (Jason Ritter), the son of the head of the firm, is intrigued by Matty and her clever skills.

As Matty (Kathy Bates) endeavors to establish herself in her new high-stakes world, she works alongside the firm’s younger associates — the charismatic Billy (Del Rio) and the uber-ambitious Sarah (Lewis). As for how many episodes are in Season 2, here goes, Season 1 had 18 episodes, so, it’s likely that Season 2 will follow suit with 18 episodes and here’s where to watch: Matlock Season 2 premiered on Sunday, October 12, at 8:30/7:30c on CBS — on a Sunday for Season 2 Episode 1, but it still airs on Thursdays throughout the rest of the season after that. Matlock Season 2 premiere is one hour long.
