I realized I needed to do something to differentiate myself. From there, I moved to New York City, went to culinary school, worked as a cook, went back to magazines again, worked for several magazines for Vogue Magazine for two years, for a food wine magazine for 15 years. And in between those two, worked for an incredible chef for many years.”

Latasha M. Ford, Entertainment Journalist had the incredible opportunity to sit down with the renowned “Top Chef” judge, Gail Simmons, for an intimate conversation at Awards Buzz.
It was a truly fascinating discussion where Gail opened up about her extensive experience on the show.
During our chat, Gail delved into her career journey, offering insights into her philosophy on food, and even gave us a sneak peek into some of her exciting upcoming projects. I believe the interview will be a great addition to our content, providing our audience with a unique perspective from such a prominent figure in the culinary world. Here are just a few exciting highlights from Gail Simmons recent interview, who has been with Top Chef for nearly 20 years, approaching 23 seasons!
Gail shared that the show recently received three Emmy nominations, including one for Kristen for Outstanding Host. She also expressed immense pride in Season 22, which was filmed in Canada. She emphasized that food is about the universal experience of eating, viewing it as a powerful form of storytelling that connects people through culture, history, and geography. She humorously noted her amusement when people say they’re “not into food,” given its fundamental role in human existence.
Latasha was particularly thrilled when Gail mentioned her favorite food cities, which included her hometown, Chicago! She also highlighted New York, New Orleans, Toronto, Montreal (which she called “overlooked” with “some of the greatest food in the world”), and Charleston. Be sure to check out the full interview below to learn more about Gail’s new book, a “guidebook to being a good guest,” and her new TV show.
