Interview: Cassandra Freeman talks “Bel-Air” Season 4 Finale: Tears, Satisfaction, Authenticity and Internet Crash!

“Bel-Air” Season 4 and Final Season will premiere on Peacock TV

Latasha M. Ford with Awards Buzz recently had an engaging conversation with Cassandra Freeman, who plays Aunt Viv in Peacock’s hit series “Bel-Air”. The below video interview summarizes their discussion, covering various topics related to the show and Cassandra’s insights.

In the interview, Cassandra delves into the upcoming final season of “Bel-Air”, her portrayal of Aunt Viv, and the character’s grounded nature. She also shares her perspectives on maintaining balance in life, prioritizing mental health, and the importance of rest and nature to combat over-stimulation.

The conversation further explores Aunt Viv’s character, focusing on her relatability, beauty, and the significance of her Libra zodiac sign. Cassandra Freeman expresses gratitude for the acceptance of her character and discusses the differences between herself and Aunt Viv, highlighting the character’s vulnerabilities. Additionally, she shares her aspirations for Hollywood narratives, her role as a visionary, and her desire to be authentically herself, drawing inspiration from figures like Aunt Viv and Diane Keaton, and ultimately hoping to be remembered for her uniqueness. The video also touches on perspectives regarding authenticity, individuality, and discomfort with mainstream concepts. Check out the full interview below:

“I wanted her [Aunt Viv] to be beautiful and sexy. That’s what the writers and creators wanted too. They didn’t want her to necessarily blend. They’re like, “No. Can she be sexy?” And I think that’s the biggest difference in general about this show, they didn’t try to skip over Black people’s sexuality, their warmth, and that part of us. I love all of that.”

“People don’t get you work with somebody for 6 -8 months of the year and you’re with them 12, 14 hours a day. It’s a blessing! That’s more time spending than you’re with your actual family. And this is one of the few shows where, everyone actually liked each other. Like Coco, I love Coco. If I had a daughter, I would want her to be like, “Coco.” So yeah, I’ll miss the everyday of it.”
