Interview: Thailey Roberge, Everett Blunck, and Ava Marie Telek on Portraying the Younger Generation of ‘The Audacity’

In The Audacity, from creator Jonathan Glatzer, egotistical tech CEO Duncan Park (Billy Magnussen) struggles to maintain control of his company as he finds an unexpected – and unwilling – partner in his therapist Dr. JoAnne Felder (Sarah Goldberg), who has found her own creative ways to get ahead in a cutthroat world where shortcuts are far too often taken and always come with unpredictable consequences.

Awards Buzz spoke with Thailey Roberge, Everett Blunck, and Ava Marie Telek about getting to play the children of these wild characters and what felt closest to and furthest from about these parts. Telek shared:

“I think that the closest thing is that insecurity is in every teenager. I don’t know if it’s as deep as Jamison goes, but I think that’s a close relatability there. The farthest thing for me, I guess, you’ll find out later this season.”

Blunck found something that he’d dislike as much as his character did:

“Most of these kids are struggling with insecurity and trying to find themselves and make their way. But also, on a lighter note, for me, it’s just like hating school. For Orson, he’s just skipping. There’s a lot of that that’s going on. When we were doing the school scenes, I was like, it’s summer, this is not the time for school.”

Roberge leaned into the appeal of something problematic:

“I think the closest for me – can I say this? It was really fun taking things all the time. I wouldn’t say it’s the closest to me, but I would love to be like that. I think the furthest thing is definitely that she’s just neglected. I think we’re all like really different from our characters.”

New episodes of The Audacity premiere Sunday nights at 9pm on AMC through the season finale on May 31st.
