Emmy nominations will be announced on July 15th. We’re running down the top contenders in a number of categories and offering predictions!
Last year’s nominees: While all of last year’s nominated shows are on the air this season, only winner Jon Bernthal (The Bear) and Will Poulter (The Bear) return as contenders.
Past nominees: Dave Chappelle (Saturday Night Live) won this award in 2017 and 2021 for hosting the variety series. John Mulaney (Saturday Night Live) was nominated in 2019. Christopher McDonald (Hacks) was nominated for his show’s second season and is now eligible again for its fourth.
The rest: In addition to Bernthal and Poulter, watch out for John Cena (The Bear), Josh Hartnett (The Bear), Joel McHale (The Bear), John Mulaney (The Bear), and David Zayas (The Bear). Other SNL hosts who may get votes include Timothée Chalamet (Saturday Night Live), Walton Goggins (Saturday Night Live), and Martin Short (Saturday Night Live). Space should definitely be saved for guest stars (some who play themselves) on the buzziest new comedy of the season: Bryan Cranston (The Studio), Zac Efron (The Studio), Ron Howard (The Studio), and Martin Scorsese (The Studio). Other possibilities include Steve Coogan (What We Do in the Shadows), Bradley Cooper (The Righteous Gemstones), Charlie Cox (Adults), John Mulaney (Poker Face), Kumail Nanjiani (Poker Face), David Paymer (St. Denis Medical), and Damon Wayans Jr. (Shrinking).
This year’s predicted nominees: Bernthal, Cranston, Goggins, Howard, Nanjiani, Scorsese
