The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will be handed out on Sunday, January 11th. One Battle After Another leads the list of nominees with 9 bids, followed by Sentimental Value with 8 and Sinners with 7. On the TV side, The White Lotus and Adolescence are the leaders, with 5 and 4 mentions each.
In the film categories, it’s all but guaranteed that Sinners and One Battle After Another will take home the top prizes, but almost all of the acting categories are much more competitive. While the Actor Awards completely omitted foreign performances, this is a place where films like The Secret Agent and Sentimental Value might do much better. While Jessie Buckley, Timothée Chalamet, and Amy Madigan are pretty far out ahead, the other races could go a number of different ways.
The TV races seem relatively locked, with the only real competitive categories behind the limited/anthology series actress and supporting actress races somewhat up for grabs. We’re betting on Sarah Snook over Michelle Williams for the former and Erin Doherty over Hannah Einbinder for the latter, but it could just as easily swing the other way. Will there be any other surprises or can Adolescence, The Studio, and The Pitt dominate as expected?
