In James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown, a young Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet) arrives in New York in search of his hero Woody Guthrie (Scoot McNairy) and connects with Pete Seeger (Edward Norton) as he begins his music career, which involves a professional and occasionally volatile relationship with Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro) and a temperamental romance with Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning).
Awards Buzz spoke with costume designer Arianne Phillips about the staggering number of costumes at play and the work involved to manage them. Watch the video above to hear about her research process and the effort undertaken to match real and remembered events.
