Nantucket’s wedding season, also known as summer, is in full swing, and the sight of a bride hurrying down Main Street is as common as a Madaket Beach sunset.
However, the Sacks-Winbury wedding is set to be memorable for all the wrong reasons. Just hours before the lavish ceremony at the groom’s parents’ oceanfront estate, a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor, making everyone in the wedding party a suspect. As the Chief of Police interviews the bride, groom, the groom’s famous mystery-novelist mother, and even a member of his own family, he uncovers that every wedding is a minefield and no couple is perfect.
In the Season 1 finale, it was revealed that Abby Winbury (Dakota Fanning) was responsible for the death of Merritt Monaco (Meghann Fahy), the maid of honor. The motive behind this was Merritt’s secret pregnancy with Tag’s (Liev Schreiber) child. This pregnancy would have complicated Abby’s plan to receive the family’s trust fund when the youngest Winbury, Will (Sam Nivola), turned 18. Merritt having a child would have delayed Abby and her husband, Thomas (Jack Reynor), from accessing the funds for another 18 years.
