Here’s How Season 4 Came To A Close:
Season 4 of “Only Murders in the Building” concluded with Oliver and Loretta’s wedding, which was soon interrupted by the resolution of Sazz Pataki’s murder. The culprit was revealed to be Marshall P. Pope (Rex Bailey), who confessed after taking Mabel hostage. Charles and Oliver rescued Mabel, and during the standoff, Marshall was shot and killed by Jan from season 1. Despite solving Sazz’s murder, the episode ended with the discovery of Lester’s body in the fountain, leaving Mabel, Charles, and Oliver in distress and suggesting another mystery for the next season.
What To Expect for Season 5:
Season 5 will likely explore Lester’s death and themes of past versus present New York. Co-creator John Hoffman mentioned in October 2024 that the season aims for a “particular take from a New York angle,” touching on current, relevant city events in unexpected ways. He noted that the upcoming season will reflect both historical and modern New York, continuing the show’s “classic meets modern” approach and promising another “wildly funny world.”
