Interview with Lola Petticrew ‘Say Nothing’ on Belfast, Community, Intergenerational Trauma & Hope

Lola Petticrew sat down with Latasha M. Ford at Awards Buzz to discuss her experience playing Dolours Price throughout the gripping FX limited series.

During our heartfelt conversation, Lola went in-depth on a range of topics, highlighting the importance of building community, hope, and betterment for the future of Belfast and Ireland. She was intentional about residing in Belfast and not running away from the past while also addressing intergenerational traumas

As Lola shared, “I love it here, I love the people, I love my community, and yeah, I think you would have to drag me from here.”

“I’m actually quite a hopeful person! I live here {Belfast} because I’m hopeful for the future of it and I think that if we all ran away and didn’t stay here, there would be no hope. I’m quite happy to live here and to be a part of building a Belfast and Ireland that we can be really proud of.

About “Say Nothing”

The FX limited series *Say Nothing* explores the lives of Irish Republican Army (IRA) members, delving into the extremes individuals will go to for their beliefs. The series vividly portrays radical violence and the profound emotional and psychological impact of a code of silence. The series stars Petticrew as Dolours Price and Doupe as Marian Price, young women who become powerful figures in radical politics. Boyle portrays Brendan Hughes, a charismatic yet conflicted military strategist, and Finan plays Gerry Adams, a prominent political operator who later negotiated peace and has consistently denied any involvement with the IRA.

“Say Nothing” is executive produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, creator Joshua Zetumer, Patrick Radden Keefe, Edward McDonnell, Monica Levinson, and Northern Ireland native Michael Lennox. The limited series is produced by FX Productions. It premiered on Thursday, November 14, with all nine episodes available exclusively on Hulu. Internationally, the series also debuted on November 14, exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Gibraltar, the Balkans, Singapore, and the Philippines.
