More than two decades after its Broadway debut, the long-running musical Wicked finally arrives on the big screen. Aiding its spectacular transition are two of the people who made the original so memorable: lyricist Stephen Schwartz and writer Winnie Holzman, who once again collaborate to expand upon a showstopping production and take it to an entirely new level.
Awards Buzz spoke with Schwartz and Holzman about keeping everything in – and adding more – for an expanded feature-length first act. Watch the video above to hear how they did make subtle modifications to ensure an enthralling and effective movie version of their beloved Tony-winning musical.
Wicked opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, November 22nd.
