In Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths, he reunites with the stars of his Oscar-nominated 1996 film Secrets & Lies. Pansy (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) is eternally on edge, seemingly happy with no one around her, while her sister Chantelle (Michele Austin) exhibits a much more optimistic outlook on life as they both prepare for the difficult five-year anniversary of their mother’s death.
