The upcoming thriller series is a nine-episode crime drama surely to have you on the edge of your seats. “SMOKE” is created, executive produced, and written by best-selling author and award-winning screenwriter Dennis Lehane. The storyline is inspired by true events and Truth Media’s “Firebug” podcast, “Smoke” follows a troubled police detective, Michelle Calderone played by Jurnee Smollett and an enigmatic arson investigator, Dave Gudsen played by Taron Egerton, as they both pursue two serial arsonists. Detective Calderone, a young police officer, is transferred to the arson division in Umberland, where she joins the experienced arson investigator Gudsen, who has been tracking two elusive arsonists in the regional area. Make no mistakes, there’s no question, suspicion grows within the department that one of the arsonists could be a firefighter, fire marshal, or ex-firefighter, which places considerable pressure on Dave, who realizes he might be hunting someone he knows, perhaps a fellow colleague or friend. While Dave is initially unenthusiastic about Michelle’s arrival, her fresh perspective proves to be a valuable asset to the ongoing investigation.
